Current Opportunities
Do you identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and LGBTIQA+?
Are you driven to create culturally safe and supportive spaces for Sistagirls, Brothaboys, queer and intersex Aboriginal peoples?
Elizabeth Morgan House is looking for someone to help guide Aboriginal Organisations towards being LGBTIQA+ inclusive.
It has been acknowledged there is a lack of safe and supportive services for Aboriginal LGBTIQA+ peoples experiencing family violence. In response to this,
6 Aboriginal Organisations that provide family violence support in Victoria have received funding to go through the Rainbow Tick Accreditation process.
The Rainbow Tick uses a set of standards to encourage organisations to do their best around LGBTIQA+ Inclusion.
The ACCO Statewide Rainbow Tick Advisor would work with these 6 organisations over 24 months to support their efforts towards accreditation.
A main focus of the role will be supporting collaboration and relationship building among the 6 organisations.
It is acknowledged that this is new and specialized role will have unique challenges. Elizabeth Morgan House will work closely with the successful applicant around how they would like to be supported. Examples of support include: cultural support, specialized supervision and peer support.
Important Note:This position has been assessed as a special measure under Section 28 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 and will be limited to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples only. Previously, Elizabeth Morgan House has exercised its exemption under the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 to hire female-identifying applicants only, however, this position is offered to applicants of any gender.
Sistagirls, Brothaboys and/or those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, gender diverse, Intersex, queer or asexual are strongly encouraged to apply.
