About the role:
Findings from the Royal Commission into Family Violence highlight the lack of family violence support for those who identify as LGBTIQA+. It is acknowledged Aboriginal LGBTIQA+ people face additional barriers to accessing support services as they face overlapping forms of discrimination including racism, homophobia, biphobia, intersexism and/or transphobia.
In response to this, 6 Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations that provide family violence support in Victoria have been provided with funding to undergo Rainbow Tick Accreditation. The Rainbow Tick is a national accreditation program that assesses organisational commitment to LGBTI-inclusive service delivery against 6 standards.
The ACCO Statewide Rainbow Advisor will work with the 6 funded Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations over 24 months. They will work with the organisations to support their efforts towards accreditation, and build relationships between them while developing and sharing practice and guidance resources. This position will be based at Elizabeth Morgan House (one of the funded organisations) at our head office in Northcote and will involve travel and overnight stays.
